This is at Eaves Wood at Mytholm - I took the photo in March this year. I love the mixture of colours and textures around the roots.
Camera/lens settings: ISO 100, f/1.8, 1/250s, 35mm, hand held.
I select my favourite images from my walks and travels (photographed with my Nikon D3200) and post them here. I also add any notes of interest about the making of each image (either at the time or afterwards on the computer). I hope you enjoy looking at my photos and would love to see your comments. If you like a photo, please also share it via your social media using the buttons below each picture...thank you!

Foliage viewed through dewdrops on a spider web.
I took this during a walk through the woods at Hardcastle Crags in November last year. It's a crop from a bigger image - I really like how abstract it is (and being slightly out of focus seems to help!).

Bramble growing up a tree trunk.
This one's from a walk around the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in June this year. The brambles were growing around the base of the tree, but this branch had managed to creep its way right up the trunk.

Sheep perched on the lower slopes of Blencathra.
Here's another one from last week, on our way down the mountain Blencathra. This photo shows the lower slopes of Doddick and Scales Fells and Scaley Beck, which runs between them. It was a dramatic but knee-shaking descent!

Fallen tree and exposed roots on Derwentwater shore.
I'm back from another week in the Lake District with more photos. I took this one yesterday morning at Hawes End beneath Catbells. The mountain in the centre background is Blencathra, which we climbed earlier in the week. This was my first time trying out a new lens and filter that my husband gave me for my birthday. The conditions were a bit too bright to get maximum effect from the filter, but it still blurs the clouds and water a little.

Black and white cat stretching out on a garden wall.
This is my cat, Spook, stretching out in the sun on our garden wall. This is one of his favourite spots, right above the bird feeders!

Ivy overhanging the shell grotto at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
This is one of the installations at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where we spent a couple of hours this afternoon. It's a little stone 'cave' built into the side of the lake, with shells set into the stones in the ceiling. I was more attracted to the lovely shapes of the ivy dangling over the doorway against the lake backdrop.

Section of arched ceiling at the Natural History Museum, London.
I took this on the way out of the main hall of the Natural History Museum in March last year. The whole of the main hall is spectacular and would be fantastic fun to photograph if it wasn't always packed full of people!

The Walsden valley viewed from above Gauxholme.
I took this one this afternoon on the way back from a walk with the kids. We set off on the zig-zagging path up the green hill on the right (The Naze), then crossed the (very boggy!) moor beyond, taking a circular route via Gorple Clough.

Low water and autumn hues at Ryburn reservoir.
I took this one in October last year. The edges of the reservoir were dry and cracked, but from a distance seemed to create a rainbow of subtle colours - from the orange of the fallen leaves at the top, through the green of the grass shoots beginning to sprout, to the purple of the mud at the bottom.

Shadows and pedestrians crossing Southwark Bridge, London.
I'm always drawn to photograph this bridge when in London. In this image, from March last year, my main focus was the contrasting lines of the cranes, buildings and shadows, but I also really like the silhouetted pedestrians against the bridge wall.

Shadows from trees on the wall of an old canal-side mill (2)
I posted a picture similar to this one in June last year, 2 months after taking the photos. This image is a wider shot that includes the canal and more of the mill. For anyone who knows the area, this is the mill at Luddenden Foot that now houses Springfield Camping.

Mossy branches surrounding mill ruins.
This is the old mill near the top of Jumble Hole Clough, between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden. I took the photo in April this year, before the leaves appeared on the trees. I'm planning another visit soon so I'll see how the leaves change the atmosphere.

Sunlight on Low Raven Crag and Buttermere's shores.
This is the crag above Gatesgarth Farm at the end of Buttermere and at the foot of Honister Pass. The sun was putting on quite a show for us on that day in August last year, lighting up different sections of the mountains in turn as the clouds passed in front of it.

Sheep grazing on grassy slopes.
These are the fields that surround Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough. I took the photo on a walk around the lake path in summer last year. There were a few things that drew me to the scene - the way the sheep were positioned around the shorter/lighter section of grass (must have been the tastier bit!); the little tree on its own on the horizon; the one sheep 'breaking rank' on the horizon next to the tree.

Blackpool beach and central pier on a late winter afternoon.
Another one from late December last year. I love the colour palette created by the light in this series of photos - subtle peaches and blues.
Beyond the pier on the left you can just see the Big One - the huge rollercoaster on the edge of the Pleasure Beach.
