Track through Whinlatter Forest.

This is one of the tracks leading uphill through Whinlatter Forest in Keswick. I took the photo in August 2015. This is somewhere I would happily return to every time I visit the Lake District - I'd never run out of photographic inspiration there.

Sunlight catching a bridge in Whinlatter Forest.

This is from our holiday to Keswick in August this year. I liked the way the sun was catching the bridge and creating shadows on the lit-up patch of ground beneath it.

This is a section of the riverside path between Midgehole car park and Gibson Mill at Hardcastle Crags, photographed in early June last year.

Path curving through a field to a group of trees.

I've posted a photo of this path and group of trees before (21st Sept 2015), but from a very different angle. This one's from a different visit in May this year. It's a very photogenic view, just off to the side of Malham Tarn.

A section of moorland footpath.

This is part of the path that runs across Widdop moor between Walshaw Dean reservoirs and Top Withens. I took the photo on a snowy day in January this year. The colours in the path stood out to me amidst the surrounding white of the snow.

Shadows of trees across the path through Greenwich Park.

This London shot is from March 2015. It was a bright midday, hence the well-defined shadows.

Water flowing across stones on a Lake District fell path.

This is an upper section of the Wasdale valley path, featured in my photo posted on 24th May this year. At this point, the narrow, steep path was doubling as a little stream (not the easiest to walk down!). The light and colours in the water and stones really caught my attention.

Evening sunshine on the Rochdale canal.

I took this one in June last year, between Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd. I love the curve of the trees, the reflections, the greens and the light on the stone wall.

Sunlight on a limestone hillside at Malham.

This hill sits just behind Malham Tarn (following the path in the picture off to the left leads you around it). I took this one on the way back to the car after an afternoon picnic by the water earlier this month. I stitched 2 landscape photos together to get the full effect of the sun lighting up the curve between the hill and the little copse of trees on the right.

Path winding down the Coledale valley beneath Grisedale Pike.

This one's from August last year, photographed from Coledale Hause. We'd just climbed Grisedale Pike (on the left) and were about to walk back down the valley along the path in the photo. You can also see the Beck winding its way off into the distance at the point the path straightens out.

The mountains in the background are Skiddaw and Blencathra.

Bluebells in the woods at Hardcastle Crags.

This one's from last week. The woods are carpeted with bluebells - it's the best year I've seen for them. I sat in this particular spot for ages and was joined, at different times, by a rabbit and a pheasant - just gorgeous!

Trees on the Widdop skyline in winter.

This is one of the last photos I took on a walk from Widdop to Top Withens and back in January this year. This path leads off the main one from Walshaw Dean reservoirs as you walk back down to the road. There was just a touch of snow on the ground at this level, but it was totally covered a bit further up on the moors.

Dramatic sky over the Calder valley.

I was bringing my son home from school one afternoon in October last year when the sun's rays started peeking out from beneath the clouds on the horizon. I decided to grab my camera and rush to this nearby viewpoint to see if I could capture it. The view is from Warley across the Calder valley towards Sowerby.

Light at the end of the tunnel!

I took this one in November last year on the way up the hillside towards Maple Dean Clough, Norland, from Copley. This shadowy, overgrown path with the bright sunlight at the end had a really magical feel to it - if it was a picture in a children's book there would be pixies and fairies perched on the branches!

Unfortunately, as I was on a long walk up a steep hill, I hadn't brought my tripod, so had to rely on a highish ISO and some noise reduction in Lightroom to capture any detail in the shadows.

Puddle-covered moorland track reflecting bright, low sunshine.

This track runs between Cold Edge Dams and Top Withens, just behind Wainstalls in Halifax. I took the photo a few weeks ago on a late afternoon walk. I had just turned round to look back at where we'd walked and loved how the sun was lighting the whole path up.

Looking towards Midgley from below Cold Edge Dams, Wainstalls.

I took this today, on a walk with my eldest son, exploring more of our local area. This is the furthest point I'd previously reached on this walk and I wanted to know what was beyond it. We went armed with the OS map and found our way along a few miles of very boggy (and snowy, further up!) paths until we reached Warley Moor reservoir. It was 'a bit brisk' up there but we could see for miles around and the clouds and lowering sun were beautiful.

Barge moving along the Rochdale canal

I took this on a late afternoon at the end of October this year, just outside Sowerby Bridge. I had just set my tripod up to take photos of the autumn foliage when I saw this barge appearing from the tunnel in the distance. I liked the idea of getting a long exposure motion shot (making one of the slowest-moving forms of transport look super-fast!) so had to quickly attach ND filters and guess my camera settings, knowing I'd only get one chance at it. Happily, it worked!

Muddy path between trees and mossy walls.

This is the Luddenden end of the path that runs past the church and alongside the river up the valley bottom. I took the photo at the end of a walk around the valley back in February this year. I love the different bright shades of green in the moss and leaves and the way the light catches the muddy puddles.
