Here's another one from Roils Head moor in Halifax last January. It took it just after the sun set, but whilst it was still back-lighting the clouds. I love the patterns made by the tree branches against the sky and the patches of grass amongst the snow.

This is an old one - from June 2013 - on one of my first walks with my DSLR at Hardcastle Crags. Sunshine and bluebells to cheer us up on a miserable, dark, wet winter evening!

Illuminated staircases on London's south bank.

This one's from March last year, taken whilst walking along the south bank of the River Thames one evening. I can't remember exactly where this was, but I do remember waiting for someone to walk past one of the doorways to give some scale and motion to the otherwise graphic simplicity of the scene. I've converted to black and white to add to the simplicity.

Nettles growing up through an old cattle grid.

This cattle grid is on the narrow track from Widdop Road to Walshaw Dean reservoir, alongside the tree plantation. A bit of an unusual subject, but great colours and lines. I took this in September last year.

Rippled reflections on the Rochdale canal

I took this in November last year, at the start of a walk from Sowerby Bridge up to Norland Moor, via Maple Dean Clough. This is a section of the canal between Sowerby Bridge and Copley. I was really drawn to the vivid colours and lovely patterns on both the wall and water.

Blackpool's north pier at dusk.

I took this at the end of December last year. I didn't expect it to turn out well as 1) it was a really quick shot whilst my husband nipped into the arcade, 2) I had both dogs so was unable to adjust the camera settings, meaning the shot was under-exposed and 3) I had to hold the 2 struggling dogs in 1 hand whilst trying to steady the camera on the top of a railing with the other. Considering all that, I'm quite pleased with it!

Rocks and pebbles on Seahouses beach (2)

More of the lovely, colourful rocks on Seahouses beach, photographed on our last holiday there in August 2013. Like the rocky beach at Whitby, I could (and probably did) spend hours taking photos here!
