These beautiful woods run along the shore of Derwentwater, at the foot of Cat Bells. I've created 2 versions of the photo - one in colour and one converted to black and white. I also cropped the original image slightly, to arrange composition around the sun-lit ferns.
I can't decide which version I like best - they each have their own merits. I think the main difference is that the colour version draws your eye to the ferns (which were intended to be the main point of interest); the monochrome version seems to lead your eye instead to the gap between the tree trunks in the centre of the picture, making it seem like a leafy tunnel.
Which do you like best?
I select my favourite images from my walks and travels (photographed with my Nikon D3200) and post them here. I also add any notes of interest about the making of each image (either at the time or afterwards on the computer). I hope you enjoy looking at my photos and would love to see your comments. If you like a photo, please also share it via your social media using the buttons below each picture...thank you!
