Bramble growing up a tree trunk.

This one's from a walk around the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in June this year. The brambles were growing around the base of the tree, but this branch had managed to creep its way right up the trunk.

Bluebells surrounding the base of a tree trunk.

Another shot of the lovely bluebells at Hardcastle Crags in May this year.

Moss-covered tree trunk.

I took this one at Jumble Hole Clough, between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge, in April this year. It's a lovely place, full of photographic opportunities - a rocky stream, waterfalls, old mill ruins, woodland. I'm aiming to go back and spend more time there soon - even the kids should enjoy clambering around whilst I take photos!

Camera/lens settings: ISO 100, f/4, 1/100s, 35mm, hand held.

Ferns and the base of a tree trunk touched by sunlight.

This tree surrounded by ferns is on the slope of the river bank close to Lumb Hole waterfalls at Crimsworth Dean. I was balanced on a rock in the river having taken photos looking up and down stream and was about to climb out when I noticed the lovely tones and patterns made by the light catching the ferns and bark.
