I took this one early morning in January this year on the way back from dropping my son at school. You can see Wainhouse Tower on the left, and can just make out the hills and valleys in the glow of the sun rising above the fog.
Camera/lens settings: ISO 100, f/11, 1/160s, 40mm, hand held.
I select my favourite images from my walks and travels (photographed with my Nikon D3200) and post them here. I also add any notes of interest about the making of each image (either at the time or afterwards on the computer). I hope you enjoy looking at my photos and would love to see your comments. If you like a photo, please also share it via your social media using the buttons below each picture...thank you!

Early morning dog walkers on Whitby beach.
I haven't posted photos for the last few days because I've been away for the weekend in Whitby with my husband. It was our first time in Whitby and we both loved it. Unsurprisingly, I took loads of photos and I'm really excited about working my way through processing them. Here's one I did this afternoon - taken from the pier early Sunday morning, before most people had ventured out.

Sunrise over Halifax roof- and tree-tops
I let the dogs out into the garden this morning, looked up and saw this beautiful sunrise. Luckily I already had my camera out ready for a long walk today, so I nipped back in for it and quickly took some photos. This one is a combination of 3 shots merged into a panorama in Photoshop.

Early morning sunshine on snowy Roils Head moor
Another one from my early-morning photography trip to the local moor in January this year. Having watched the sun rise, we spent a cold but exciting hour wandering round the fields - the light changed constantly and there were endless photo opportunities.
Camera/lens settings: ISO 100, f/9, 1/250s, 22mm, hand held.

Sun rising behind snow-covered trees
This is the only sunrise I've managed to photograph so far (because I hate getting out of bed early!). I only made this one because it was in January and was therefore rising quite late. The photo is taken over a wall looking onto West End golf course at Highroad Well, Halifax. It was too high up for a tripod so I rested the camera on the snow on the top of the wall.
Camera/lens settings: ISO 100, f/11, 1/40s, 55mm, hand held (resting on a wall)

Group of trees on a snowy golf course at sunrise
This is one of the shots from our early-morning trip to the local moor in January this year. This photo was taken on tiptoe looking over the wall onto the neighbouring golf course. I loved this little group of trees and waited with my camera resting on the top of the snow-covered wall for the sun to start to rise and the sky to turn pink, providing such a lovely backdrop.

Snowy graveyard at sunrise
I took this one this morning with my iPhone. I had walked my son to school and was walking home through the fields with my 2 dogs. As I passed the graveyard it started snowing again heavily and the snow falling in front of the rising sun created this lovely orangey-yellow haze. So glad I had my phone to capture it but it would have been so much better with my DSLR...there's absolutely no chance of carrying or using my DSLR whilst walking my 2 crazy cockerpoos though!
