Sunlight catching midtown Manhattan buildings.

I took this one looking straight down from the 'Top of the Rock'. It was early morning and very quiet up there, so I had plenty of opportunities to try out different views and angles. I really like how the sunlight is just catching sections of the buildings and roads on this one.

Track through Whinlatter Forest.

This is one of the tracks leading uphill through Whinlatter Forest in Keswick. I took the photo in August 2015. This is somewhere I would happily return to every time I visit the Lake District - I'd never run out of photographic inspiration there.

Christmas lights reflected on car windscreens in Manchester.

Yesterday we visited the Christmas markets in Manchester. The lights on the House of Fraser store surpassed any of the others in the city centre, although you can't see the best of them in this picture. What caught my attention here was the way they reflected on the cars below.

Road through autumnal woodland.

I took this in early November 2014, on the main road through Hardcastle Crags. I love the rich mixture of colours.

A colourful and eclectic mix of buildings on Middlesex St, London.

I took this one in March last year. We were early for a meal at the Duck and Waffle restaurant in The Heron Tower and, having already visited the local markets, decided to wander around the streets in the area. I just had to take a photo of this scene - there's just so much in it: colours, different styles of buildings, signs, art, vehicles, reflections, shadows...!

Puddle on the road leading up to Honister Pass

Today's photo is from my holiday to Keswick in August this year. On this day we were walking around Lake Buttermere - this is the section of the walk near Gatesgarth Farm where you join the road for a short while.

It's strange to think that in the middle of such stunning scenery I would choose to photograph a puddle, but the puddle really was the main focus of this image, with the mountains playing a background role. I really liked the reflections and the way the light and water brought out the textured lines on the road surface.

Muddy, puddled track between trees

Here's another muddy, wet scene from a walk along the Luddenden valley in February this year. This is just before you come out from under the trees and the valley opens up ahead of you.

Crumbling dry stone wall, fence and puddle on a country road

This is somewhere along the road that runs from Midgley along the top of the Calder valley above Mytholmroyd - I took it in early April this year. I suppose it's an unusual subject - a wall, a puddle, some barbed wire etc - but I was really drawn to the colours and textures.

Low sunlight creating shadows on a wooded lane

This lane is near Jerusalem Farm in the Luddenden valley - I took the photo in February this year. The colours are really autumnal, even though it was winter.

Autumn woodland scene at Hardcastle Crags

I took this in November last year, on the main road through the Crags. Beautiful Autumn colours and shadows!
