This lane is not far from Withens Clough reservoir - I took the photo on a walk round there from Cragg Vale, in June this year. The focusing could be sharper (think I struggled with the low light) but I love the image too much to delete it!
Camera/lens settings: ISO 200, f/8, 1/125s, 32mm, hand held.
I select my favourite images from my walks and travels (photographed with my Nikon D3200) and post them here. I also add any notes of interest about the making of each image (either at the time or afterwards on the computer). I hope you enjoy looking at my photos and would love to see your comments. If you like a photo, please also share it via your social media using the buttons below each picture...thank you!

Cobbled lane in the Luddenden valley
This cobbled lane runs down from the road between Luddenden and Booth; the hillside in the background is below Wainstalls. I took the photo on a walk around the valley in February this year. The original raw file was very contrasty - bright sunlight and dark shadows. Converting to black and white enabled me to better balance the light in different areas without confusing any colours.
Camera/lens settings: ISO 100, f/11, 1/250s, 32mm, hand held.

1800's textiles mill and chimney on a cobbled lane in Halifax
Today I had to leave my car at the garage in Halifax to have some work done, so I decided to spend the morning walking around town with my camera (for 'locals' the route was up Beacon Hill Rd to Southowram, over the top and down behind Siddal, past the Shears pub, then back behind the Nestle factory to the town centre again).
This photo is looking up Boys Lane at Shaw Lodge Mill and its chimney. They were built in the 1800's for woollen/worsted textile weaving by John Holdsworth & Co and remained in their ownership until 2005. (I think they're rented out as separate units now).
Camera/lens settings: ISO 100, f/14, 1/80s, 18mm, hand held.

Sunlit lane through Autumnal woodland at Hardcastle Crags
I took this one a year ago at Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge. It's my favourite place to photograph - no matter what the season or weather.
This was a difficult scene to capture due to the high contrasts. Post production I had to reduce highlights to take some of the glare off the lane and increase shadows to bring out the ferns in the foreground, whilst also increasing overall exposure slightly.
